As the internship draws closer, I (Kristen) am getting all of my other plans figured out. I'll be taking classes this summer when I get back from the DR (and I believe Emily will be too). It keeps hitting me how soon this trip is. Which reminds me, I need to find my passport!
In the midst of the craziness that comes with planning a summer and an internship, I am so looking forward to getting away for a while. Of course, we'll be working, but being in a different country for a little while will be nice. Taking away the distractions and stressors and all of those things that we, as Americans, let get in our way, is cleansing and when we get rid of Twitter and texting and worrying about what happens in the next episode of Parks and Rec, we are where we are meant to be: shoved into God's arms. It's so easy to forget how much these things that our culture has now practically deemed as necessities can pull us away from God and who we are meant to be, but each time in the DR, I am reminded that there's no point in these things. All that matters is drawing closer to God, loving Him, and serving His people.
